Educating, supporting, and connecting people to real resources for recovery from fentanyl addiction.
At FREE (Fentanyl Recovery & Education Effort), our mission is to save lives by raising awareness, fighting stigma, and connecting people to the resources they need to recover from addiction. We believe that every person deserves a chance to heal, and we’re here to make sure support, education, and hope are always within reach.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that’s up to 50 times stronger than heroin and often mixed into other drugs without warning. Because of its potency and how easy it is to hide in pills or powders, it’s now the leading cause of overdose deaths in the U.S. In 2023 alone, nearly 70% of the more than 107,000 drug overdose deaths involved fentanyl or other synthetic opioids. And while overall overdose numbers have started to decline slightly, fentanyl remains the deadliest drug in America—and the biggest threat in the opioid crisis.
FREE (Fentanyl Recovery & Education Effort) is one of the few grassroots projects focused exclusively on fentanyl, the deadliest drug in America today. While most harm reduction and recovery initiatives address a broad range of substances, FREE’s mission is laser-focused: to prevent fentanyl-related deaths by raising awareness, offering educational content, and connecting people to resources for recovery. Unlike larger organizations that include fentanyl alongside heroin, meth, and other drugs, FREE exists because fentanyl isn’t just another drug, it’s a synthetic killer that’s changing the face of opioid addiction and overdose. Our approach is community-based, social-media-driven, and built by people directly affected by the crisis. We’re here to educate, support, and stop the stigma, one life at a time.
At FREE, we spread life-saving info about fentanyl through social media, blog posts, and community outreach. We share harm reduction tools, connect people to recovery resources, and fight stigma with education and hope.
Whether you’ve been personally affected by fentanyl or just want to help make a difference, there’s a place for you at FREE. We’re looking for volunteers, collaborators, and supporters who believe in education, recovery, and saving lives. Share our content, join the effort, or make a donation to help us grow and reach more people in need.
